Digital Discovery device recognition in Waveforms issue MacOS

mjc43

Question

Hi, I can't get my Digital Discovery device to appear in Waveforms Device Manager. Digital Discovery is definitely visible to MacOS 10.15.7 Catalina and if I click on My Device is Not Listed in Waveforms' Device Manager it successfully finds the device and can successfully re-program it (not sure what that does) but it still doesn't appear in the Device Manager list alongside all the demo devices and soundcard. Anything I'm missing? I only ever get the blue light on the left.

Thanks, Mike / mjc43

Hi @mjc43

I suppose the "Device Fix" lists the device under MacOS

If the Windows is running under Virtual Machine, make sure the USB device is attached to this.
See if the device is listed in Windows Device Manager as "USB Serial Converter" or "Digilent ..." if it was programmed with Vendor: Digilent
Make sure VCP is not checked and verify the driver version.
The device could be blocked by other applications, like some FTDI based JTAG/SPI/UART applications.

Hi @mjc43

Sorry... I should have read your question more carefully

1. Which WaveForms version are you using ?
It seems that you are using an old version. You can find the latest here:
https://digilent.com/reference/software/waveforms/waveforms-3/start
https://forum.digilent.com/topic/8908-waveforms-beta-download/

2. Make sure USB under Filter is checked, press Auto Refresh or Manual.

3. Make sure the driver filter is not installed, which was required for old OSX
Delete: Library/ Extensions/ DigilentFtdiDriver.kext and Reboot

4. Try programming it with Vendord:Digilent
