What is "Digilient Software version 1.5.8"

Recommended Posts

In my programs list on a windows PC, I have Digilient Software version 1.5.8 listed. I have no idea what this is or what it does? Can someone give me a rundown of what this software is? What it controls? Are there user inputs to it? Does it rely on other software to run? Etc...

Hi @jb2121,

I don't have a Digilent Software version 1.5.8 listed specifically, but when I click into and view more details of the 1.9.7 that I do have, it looks like this is the uninstaller for the Digilent WaveForms software, https://digilent.com/reference/software/waveforms/waveforms-3/start, which is used to run various devices such as Digilent's Analog Discovery 3.

Proceeding with the uninstall wizard confirms that I would be uninstalling WaveForms or the Adept Runtime (the driver used that lets WaveForms communicate between the operating system and whatever Test and Measurement hardware device):

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

@JColvin,

Thank you for this information. I am an IT administrator for my company and none of the engineers who work in the test area with this PC that has the software on it knew what it was so I am trying to figure out if I can remove it or not without disrupting anything. I will have to see if I can find any Waveforms info on the PC.

Hi @jb2121,

If none of your engineers are using WaveForms, https://digilent.com/reference/software/waveforms/waveforms-3/start, to control devices like the Analog Discovery 3 or the Analog Discovery Pro (these are mixed signal oscilloscope devices), nor are using Digilent's Adept software, https://digilent.com/reference/software/adept/start, to target and load bitstreams onto Xilinx FPGAs, then the software should be able to be freely uninstalled without any disruption to the rest of your system as it doesn't interact with anything else as far as I am aware.

If something does break, the software can always be freely re-downloaded as there is no license seats or monetary costs associated with these pair of Digilent software.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
