Analog discovery 3 MSO function not working

John D

Question

Hi, I am hoping someone maybe able to help me here.
I am trying to use the AD3 device with labview and so i installed the waveforms SDK and the  Digilent waveforms VI package vers 1.0.3.26

The example VIS for power supplies and digital outputs work but the MSO doesn't work, it throws an exception on the read function and no data is exported.
If I use the scope with the waveforms app it works fine but the labview VI for MSO read throws exception 374309 as shown in the attached.
I thought perhaps the VIS didn't support the latest AD3 so i bought an AD2 to test and it throws the exact same error.
I do not need any other functions other than the MSO read.
If the labview VIS worked i could incorporate this into my software very quickly, if im forced to use another language by choice it would be C# but it will still take me a lot longer to figure out how to use it.

Has anyone used the MSO function with labview?

Thanks

Hello @John D.

Please reference the Getting Started with LabVIEW and a Digilent Discovery Device guide to verify your installation.  Next, download and test the frequency_sweep_v2.zip example in the Analog I/O Example section, with your AD3.

If your issue is not resolved, please reply with your installed versions of Windows OS, LabVIEW, and WaveForms.  Also, include screen captures of any new errors and detailed information.

Regards,

Fausto

Hi Fausto,

Thanks for your reply, I have gone back through the getting started guide and I am confident I have installed everything correctly but I still have a problem with the labview VI  but the Waveforms application works correctly.

here are the version numbers of each requested item

Waveforms vers 3.22.2 64 bit qt5.15.2
Labview vers 2022 Q3

Digilent install 1.0.3.2.6

OS version Windows 10 enterprise (Full details attached)

When i try to run the frequency_sweep_v2 example, the application just freezes, it can be seen that the freeze happens inside the MSO read VI.
If i look into the VI and place a probe on the error out  it can be seen that the dll call is where the application freezes, it never completes the DLL call.

Appreciate you looking at this and look forward to hearing the next steps to resolving this.

Thanks

John

Hi Fausto,

Let me know if you need any more info to support this investigation. As of right now it just seems like the MSO read function does not work with labview.

Thanks

John
