RMA Request

Question

I have an Eclypse Z7 board that has stopped working.  No LEDs light when power is applied and the switch is turned on.

I have checked the 12V supply and the power on/off switch. The power supply input is at 12V when the power switch is 'off', but drops to 7.65V when the switch is set to 'on'.

I have filled out a 'Sales and Order Support Form'.

Original order # 20130365  10/26/2022

Hi @GeoffJ,

From your description I am inclined to agree that the Eclypse Z7 has experienced a part failure of some kind.

In the interest of clarification, where were you measuring on the board to observe the sharp voltage drop off? For reference, the voltage across the following capacitors on the Eclypse Z7 should help reveal the point of failure on the device:

Located on the underside of the board between the Zmod ports (I attached a picture to help show where these are all located:
C291 - should match power supply at 12V
C293 - should be 3.3V (supply to the power sequencer)
C271 - should be 5.0V (next to L6, the 5V supply output)
C277 - should be 1.0V (next to L7, the 1V supply output)
C302 - should be 1.6V by default (next to L8, VADJB output)
C264 - should match power supply at 12V (other side of L8 from where C302 is, 12V supply for the power management)
C303 - should be 1.6V by default (next to L9, VADJA output)
C305 - should be 3.3V (next to L2 powers the PMIC and a number of SoC banks)
C243 - should be 1.35V (next to L3 and powers the DDR memory)
C249 - should be 1.8V (next to L4 and powers the SD card and other things)

On the top side of the board directly next to the 'V' on the silkscreen printing of "12V Only!" next to the power supply input:
C296 - should be around 1.2 V due to the ~10:1 resistor divider

Thanks,
JColvin
