Cannot create hardware physical channel control for ULx Create Channel.vi

wd74

Question

Hello,

In LabVIEW 2020 SP1, I am having trouble creating a Physical Channel control for the ULx Create Channel.vi. When I right click on the input I am not able to create a control or a constant. I am therefore not able to discover the name of the channel as the instructions describe. https://kb.mccdaq.com/knowledgebasearticle50357.aspx

I was able to create the control for the first daq I worked with (USB-1608G) a few months ago (same software setup).  I can still control this daq by setting a constant to the input (Dev#/AuxPort/Do#).

Now I am trying to read the digital inputs of a USB-1208FS-Plus. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to create this control (and discover hardware channel syntax). Does anyone know why the create control for this subVI would stop working?

Re-installing ULx did not change anything.

I was unsuccessful after trying the advice here https://kb.mccdaq.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50432.aspx. The devices appear in InstaCal (board0) and I close InstaCal before running Labview. I am connecting only one device at a time.

According to the documentation the Digital I/O on the USB-1208FS-Plus have a Portnum like FIRSTPORTA, FIRSTPORTB. is there some syntax like the one for the USB-1608G that I can use to hard code the physical channel input? https://www.mccdaq.com/pdfs/manuals/Mcculw_WebHelp/ULStart.htm?_ga=2.39434403.1299140923.1671122205-150325646.1659371580

Thank you

Hello @wd74

Just to see if the Physical channel.vi operates, would you please try one of our examples, those found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2022\examples\ULx

For digital io of the USB-1208FS-PLUS or USB-1608G, for output try Generate Values.llb >> ULx Write Dig Chan.vi, for input, try ULx Read Dig Chan.vi.

We have no other reports of this phenomenon, so I believe it is something specific to your computer.

As you stated above,

I take this to as, something must have changed on your system, with or without your intervention.  Perhaps it was a windows update or a similar, non-user controlled action.

I know this is an unappealing suggestion but, I suggest you uninstall / reinstall LabVIEW and ULx for NI LabVIEW, or just as a test, try installing both software on another computer.
