PMOD Nav

slvick

Question

The Digilent Pmod NAV (Revision C) uses the LSM9DS1 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis
magnetometer, plus the LPS25HB digital barometer to provide users with 10-DOF functionality.

QUESTION:

I am using this board to query gyroscope info.  Can I communicate to it using I2C?  The onboard LSM9D21 chip includes I2C but don't see it mentioned in the datasheet for PMOD Nav.

Thanks,
Steve Vick

Hi Steve, welcome to the forums.

The Pmod NAV was designed to be used with the SPI interface - it's classified as a SPI Pmod - and Digilent hasn't tested it with I2C and doesn't have any material on using it this way. That said, looking through the NAV schematics and datasheets for the parts, it seems like it might be possible, there are pullup resistors and slave addresses don't seem to conflict. You'd still need to pull CS high to enable I2C.

Good luck,

Arthur
