BASYS3 Board Recognized by Vivado 2019.1 but not 2022.2

Basys3EducationUser

Question

We can successfully use Vivado 2019.1 with the Basys 3 Board Files by copying the board files supplied by Digilent into Xilinz's board files subfolder.

However, after installing Vivado 2022.2, Xilinx has changed how boards are handled, and has a way to "search" for board files. We find the latest Basys 3 board files, but, then, after clicking the download icon, the Basys 3 board disappears from the list and we are not able to  select it or use it when making a project.

Any suggestions?  Thanks for any help / hints on how to work around this issue!

Hello,

Please download and copy the board files from the vivado-boards-master.zip  to your \Xilinx\Vivado\2022.2\data\boards\board_files\ folder

See the section named Install Digilent's Board files in the following guide:

https://digilent.com/reference/programmable-logic/guides/installing-vivado-and-vitis

With board files installed, you can choose a board when you create a project. See the following for guidance:

https://digilent.com/reference/programmable-logic/guides/getting-started-with-vivado

best regards,

John

Thanks John,

For anyone else that runs into this problem, here is the solution. When you get to the Vivado screen to select a part, hit refresh, then, click on the link to download the Basys3 files, then click next.
The Next time you create a new project, the Basys3 file will be in the list (hit refresh if needed).
