Can Genesys ZU support USB SuperSpeed?

TimONT

Question

Hi, looking at FGPAs which can support SuperSpeed and came across this board (https://digilent.com/shop/genesys-zu-zynq-ultrascale-mpsoc-development-board/) which supports USB 3.0 Gen1. Bit confused though, can it actually be configured to support bulk transfers at SuperSpeed speeds? The application I have in mind is to replace our current setup which uses a Cypress FX3 chip to do the USB comms then sends the data on to an FPGA via SPI.

Sorry if I have missed some clear information on this.

Thanks,

Tim

The place to find available AMD/Xilinx application support resources is here: https://xilinx-wiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/A/overview

Be prepared to discover that "support" for things like USB 3.0 may not mean what you hope for. I've run the ZCU106 with Ubuntu on an SSD ( not easy ) and reality rarely meets expectations. Try operating a USB 2.0 webcam on an Ubuntu UltraScale+ platform, you'll see what I mean. And this takes advantage of Ubuntu ARM architecture software support. Things get very bad very quickly for other OS platforms on ZYNQ.

Hi @TimONT,

Yes, our USB 3.0 Gen1 supports SuperSpeed transfers. The "SS" initials are beside the connector.

Thanks Bogdan :) Do you know if there are any example projects showing this capability?

My first result on Google for "digilent genesys superspeed example" is this forum post!

Thanks, Tim
