Question on Cmod A7 schematics

Paolo Delmastro

Question

Hi, I hope I am entering the question in the right section.
I am considering using Cmod A7 for a project and I am looking at the schematics. I see that there is onboard a ASEM1-100.000MHz clock generator, that generates a 100MHz clock and is connected to pin L17, but in the manual I read that a 12MHz clock is connected to L17. Could someone clarify if on L17 I have a 12MHz or a 100MHz clock?

Thanks in advance and Br

The 100 MHz external oscillator is not installed.

You can use a PLL or MMCM to create a 100 MHz global clock for your design from the 12 MHz clock input.

If the quality of the 12 MHz clock doesn't meet your requirements, the CMOD A7 has a number of clock capable input pins available. You can use one of these ( an MRCC pin is preferable ) to supply your own external clock. Edited by zygot
