what method could be used for diagnosis "JTAG scan chain interrogation failed: all ones" on Arty-A7 board?

JZwaves

Question

The Jtag was working well before it broke when debugging.
I have tried both freedomStudio and Vivado tools to connect the board, but have following error messages

jtag
probe
Using JTAG
Error: JTAG scan chain interrogation failed: all ones
Error: Check JTAG interface, timings, target power, etc.
Error: Trying to use configured scan chain anyway...
Error: riscv.cpu: IR capture error; saw 0x1f not 0x01
Error: [riscv.cpu] Unsupported DTM version: 15
Error: [riscv.cpu] Unsupported DTM version: 15
Error: [riscv.cpu] Unsupported DTM version: 15
Error: Target not examined yet

Error: [riscv.cpu] Unsupported DTM version: 15

Thanks

Hi @JZwaves,

I apologize for the long delay.

I'm not certain how the JTAG functionality would break during debugging, but I would recommend checking to see if your host PC can still succesfully detect the Arty A7 board, either through the Windows Device manager (Look for USB Serial Converter A and USB Serial Converter B under the Universal Serial Bus controllers dropdown, with a Bus reported device description of "Digilent USB Device" in the Details tab of their Properties) or if you are on Linux lsusb and dmesg should give you a similar set of information.

Thanks,
JColvin
