6pin header JTAG cable

Question

Hi,

I'm looking for a smaller size JTAG connector due to space constraints in my board. I came across this 6pin JTAG cable(in the image).

My design has Xilinx Ultrascle+ MPSoC FPGA. Is this compatible with the FPGA I have?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi @ranjini.r,

The JTAG-USB would work for bitstream configuration, but it's maximum programming speed is fairly slow. If you are looking for a strictly faster 6-pin Digilent solution, I would instead recommend the JTAG HS2: https://digilent.com/reference/programmers/jtag-hs2/start. It supports the same boards, has same Xilinx support, has the same 6-pin JTAG header (with the 100 mil / 2.54mm spacing between pins), costs the same, but programs faster.

However, neither of those modules support PS_SRST resetting on the Zynq based device, which is occasionally required by the Xilinx software while debugging the processor. For that, I would instead recommend the JTAG HS3, https://digilent.com/reference/programmers/jtag-hs3/start, which uses Xilinx's 14-pin header configuration (a 2x7 pin arrangement that has a 2 mm pitch between pins).

Thanks,
JColvin
