Additionally, are you intending to use the module as more of a standalone device or are you planning to directly integrate it into your design? Also for what it's worth, I'm not sure which USB-JTAG modules you are referring to that are going obsolete (or at least I'm not seeing any that Digilent currently sells that are marked as limited time or anything like that).
