JTAG-SMT2-NC Malfunctioned

CSpegal

Question

We built a customized JTAG adapter with the JTAG-SMT2-NC module but cannot get them working with Windows. When the device is plugged in, Windows reports that it malfunctioned. We have 3.3v and Vref powered. D+/D- are connected directly to the USB connector. We had a TVS diode on them but took it off to see if it was causing the problem; it didn't help.

I'm using a 120mA 3.3v regulator. I couldn't find max current consumption in the guide so I just went with that. Do you think that's enough?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi @CSpegal,

The current you quoted should be sufficient I think, at least based on the +/- 50 mA for the Iout listed in the absolute maximum ratings, https://digilent.com/reference/programmers/jtag-smt2-nc/reference-manual#absolute_maximum_ratings.

With Windows reporting that the device malfunctioned, does the JTAG SMT2-NC have a driver associated with it or some other details? Is the Digilent Adept software, https://digilent.com/reference/software/adept/start, able to detect the JTAG module?

Thanks,
JColvin
