Mac OS says Waveforms needs to be updated

Just installed Waveforms from the Digilent website in anticipation of my recently ordered AD2. Installed without a problem MacBook Pro 2019 32 GB running OS 10.15.7. When try to run the app get the error message "WaveForms" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated........ The DMG is digilent_waveforms_v3.18.1.dmg. Apologize if I'm doing something obtuse or missing something.
